day trading is so unc, trading by the minute ftw
How I turned small cap perp trading into a exciting and engaging experience. Fast paced trades happening every second, shorting and longing with a simple tap, and win celebrations that actually feel like winning.
I wanted to create an experience that didn't feel like boring day trading. I wanted something that felt more like if dance dance revolution hooked up with candy crush, then started snapping each other.

humble beginnings
The experience started with a simple question: Can users make 5 - 30 second trades on popular crypto assets?
It expanded into a more nuanced question: Can we make a trading experience that felt less overwhelming than traditional trading platforms, and more importantly would anyone even want it?

going all-in on fun
After some internal and external testing, I had found a direction. A scrolling marquee of positions, and a collision event with the actual price.
Sadly it was too hard to close positions within the 300 milliseconds needed to make it work, so I reverted to a hybrid of longing and shorting on the scrolling tiles based on the moment of the tap.

the launch
While I was going over the micro interactions I had an epiphany … Let's make it bright and absurd, and when you win, a penguin slides across the screen, or a hip unicorn ollies on a dope skateboard.
We launched it with a lot of traction, but the sheer volume and latency on the hyperliquid APIs forced us to shut it down. But for the 3 days it was live, it gave crazy wonderful numbers like nearly 5k new customers, and close to $800k TVL on beep.
