How I led the mobile banking and expense management experience for Jeeves, a global business banking company

Ignoring the duality of product manager and designer, I started with a north star vision. What would our customers totally flip their sh*t over
After multiple iterations, numerous variations, and direct customer feedback through usability and discovery calls, I finally landed on a clear direction.
Or said differently: How might we increase adoption & engagement of our expense management platform through our mobile experience in order to generate higher GTV
Rather than solving all the problems, I wanted to ship something that could deliver immediate impact. A simple card & transaction management app that would remedy the majority of support tickets we received.
reality bites
I explored multiple variations of how we display basic and more advanced fundamentals of expense management. Balances, multiple cards, transactions, etc.
Unfortunately I had limited access to backend engineers and had to rely on existing APIs. So in the end I had to make do with the most basic of information (the rise of AI was on the horizon, but hadn't happened yet.)
As is true with most software releases, the customers have no idea the number of iterations that went before it, and will only experience it through the lens of what was shipped.
the launch
While it lacked some bells, whistles, and "wow" moments, it gave our customers an easy to consume experience that they had been near begging for.
Having access to recent transactions, the ability to search and filter, and manage their corporate cards led to wide spread adoption, increased engagement, and exponentially improved utilization. All in a huge success not just for the company but for the customers we serve.
