2024 - 2025

The opportunity

I joined the Cimphony team shortly after their series A round. They had a product, but it was lacking polish and finesse.

It was feature rich, but lacked vision and clarity. You could do a lot of things, but in cumbersome often times seemingly broken ways.

I was brought in to elevate the platform and smooth out the rough edges.

The first thing I did was take an audit of the application as it existed, interviewed a handful of users, then got to work on a refresh roadmap.

It's starting to make cents

With all of our improvements added it was time to really start monetizing the experience. That being said the first iteration was to place action cards in the chat (LLM) experience. It led to moderate conversion, but after watching videos of customers and potential customers abandon, I came up with a new pattern.

Borrowing from Apple, I introduced smart control that sat at the top of the screen. At first it was a sleek way to add toast style messaging, but as I sat with it, it became a great way to summarize the project and pull overly ads feeling content from the chat and into a dedicated area.

Another observation was that our prompt conversation could be really long and the amount of scrolling out customers were doing became painful to watch. This new surface became a great way to highlight elements in the conversation for quick and easy access.

The end result

Sadly Cimphony closed its doors in the fall of 2025, but what we accomplished was pretty exceptional and we introduced some fantastic new design patterns for the boring ol’ prompt interface.

With the changes made we went from generating roughly $500 / mo to $15,000 and when we closed our doors we were on target to grow to about $1,000,000.00 ARR.

Some of this was due to the customer experience updates, some of it was product and market positioning as well as new pricing strategies. But the biggest win was seeing customers adopting a new way of dealing with legal issues.
